Criminal Investigator, Criminal Law Division, Medicaid Fraud Control Unit

Primary Duties: The Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU) is currently accepting applications for a Criminal Investigator. The federally funded and mandated MFCU is an interdisciplinary team dedicated to protecting vulnerable individuals and safeguarding the finite resources on which they depend. This position is responsible for conducting complex criminal investigations involving Medicaid provider fraud, patient abuse, neglect and financial exploitation. Investigations often involve multi-agency coordination, detailed evidence analysis, and preparation for prosecution.
Primary duties include:
- Conducting interviews
- Obtaining and analyzing electronic files and other evidence
- Serving subpoenas
- Obtaining and executing search warrants
- Preparing reports and exhibits
- Maintaining investigative case files
- Testifying in court
- Interfacing with other law enforcement agencies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have a current Idaho POST Certification, or eligible to take the Idaho POST Challenge Exam.
- Minimum education of a high-school diploma or equivalent.
- At least five years of law-enforcement experience, preferably with an emphasis in investigations.
- Above average communication and interpersonal skills.
- A thorough understanding of laws, policies, and rules of evidence applicable to Idaho law-enforcement service.
- Ability to work both independently and in a close-knit team environment with other investigators and prosecutors.
- Enthusiasm for public service.
- Must be able to pass a Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) background check and maintain CJIS access.
- Must possess a valid state-issued driver’s license and be able to drive and travel frequently, including with little or no advanced notice.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours and be on-call as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related fields, such as health information management, accounting, healthcare administration, or criminal justice.

Location: Eastern Idaho.
Primary Duties: The successful applicant will work in eastern Idaho as a prosecutor for the Idaho Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. This position will prosecute crimes involving child sexual exploitation in the Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh judicial districts with a majority caseload in eastern Idaho. Office location is flexible in eastern Idaho and will depend on where the successful applicant lives or plans to live.
The person who fills this position will be the only prosecutor located in eastern Idaho who works for the Attorney General and may occasionally be asked to stand in for hearings in other cases prosecuted by the office in eastern and south-central Idaho. The successful applicant must be independent, self-motivated, and able to work with little or no supervision.
Primary duties include handling all aspects of criminal prosecution, from search warrant review and screening through trial and sentencing; working closely with investigators throughout the state; and appearing in courtrooms throughout eastern and south-central Idaho.
The Office of the Attorney General prioritizes the mental health and wellbeing of all ICAC personnel. Each ICAC prosecutor is required to meet with a mental health professional annually.
Minimum Qualifications: Must hold an active Idaho Bar license and have first-chair jury trial experience. Must have the ability to frequently travel throughout eastern and south-central Idaho and occasionally travel statewide. A valid driver’s license is required. Must be comfortable managing cases with media attention and demonstrate a strong enthusiasm for public service.
Preferred Qualifications: At least two years of prosecution experience in district court, including experience prosecuting ICAC cases. Familiarity with Fourth Amendment jurisprudence on the search and seizure of electronic devices and data stored in the cloud.

Primary Duties: The Natural Resources Division of the Idaho Attorney General’s Office is seeking applications for an attorney to provide representation and counsel to the State of Idaho and its natural resource agencies including the Idaho Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, the State in special litigation proceedings, the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation, and other boards, commissions or agencies, as assigned. Primary Duties: This is a sworn law enforcement supervisor position within the Idaho Office of the Attorney General (OAG) assigned to the Special Investigations Unit. The Special Investigations Unit handles public corruption cases involving elected county and city officials and felony-level referrals from local law enforcement agencies. The Senior Investigator supervises between 5 and 10 frontline investigators or other law enforcement support personnel and plays an active role in developing and implementing the strategic plan for their unit.
All criminal investigators, including supervisors, are assigned felony-level cases and must be capable of conducting investigations with little or no supervision. Primary job duties include conducting interviews, obtaining and analyzing documents and other evidence, serving subpoenas, obtaining and executing search warrants, arresting suspects, preparing reports and exhibits, maintaining investigative case files, testifying in court, conducting surveillance, responding to inquiries from the public, interfacing with outside agencies, and speaking to large groups of people.
Minimum Qualifications: Current Idaho POST Certification of Intermediate level or higher. Complete a background investigation, including fingerprinting, a polygraph, and a psychological evaluation, to the satisfaction of the OAG. Pass Criminal Justice Information System background check (CJIS) and maintain CJIS access. Minimum of 10 years of law enforcement experience, including experience investigating as a detective or in a similar position. Must be physically capable of performing all traditional law enforcement functions. Must qualify with a firearm and re-qualify as required by the OAG. Must possess valid state-issued driver’s license. Must be able to drive and travel frequently, including with little or no advanced notice. Must be willing to work flexible hours and be on-call as needed.
Preferred Qualifications: 10-15 years of law enforcement experience, including supervisory experience. Experience in specialized investigations, preferably in public corruption or white-collar fraud but may include ICAC, narcotics, cybercrime, human trafficking, organized crime, counterterrorism, missing persons, or other specialty. Familiarity with current technology, forensic software, and investigative equipment. Advanced training in dignitary/executive protection, surveillance, or tactical operations. Idaho POST instructor certification or completion of an instructor development course. Demonstrated ability to present effectively to large groups of people, including legislators, law enforcement, and members of the public.
